The right flange fit makes all the difference
What’s a Flange?

It’s the trumpet shaped part of the milkpump that fits against your body. The size most commonly provided in the kit that comes with your pump is 24mm. But that is often too large, or not the right shape.
Do I need a flange fitting?
If you are pumping all the milk your baby needs, and you are perfectly comfortable doing it, then don’t worry about it.
But if you are experiencing
- Nipple pain, swelling or bruising
- Reduced milk output
- Blocked ducts
- Long pumping sessions
- Discouragement
or if you are
- exclusively pumping
- going back to work soon (and you baby is under 6 months old)
- confused about what flange size fits you
- feeling upset about how much milk you can pump

The right flange for YOU makes pumping not only more comfortable, but also removes more milk more quickly
If pumping your milk hurts, if it pinches or rubs, or it you cannot produce very much milk, there a good chance the saize or the shape of the flange you are using is not right for your body. The standard 24mm flange that come with you pumping kit is not actually the “average” size. Most folks need something smaller. And it’s not only about size but also about the shape of the flange – that will also make a different to comfort and milk production.
